About MEDEK
In line with Turkey’s strategic development plans, MEDEK was established to contribute to the development of a qualified workforce and to enhance the competencies of Vocational School of Higher Education graduates. With this goal, the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Vocational Education Programs (MEDEK) was founded in 2021 under the encouragement and support of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). In 2023, MEDEK was granted the authority by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) to accredit 83 vocational school programs. This authority enables the evaluation of vocational programs’ compliance with defined standards, quality criteria, and performance indicators, thereby contributing to shaping the qualified workforce of the future.
As an authorized accreditation body, MEDEK supports vocational programs in improving their quality standards, enhancing teaching and learning processes, and ensuring greater consistency in learning outcomes through rigorous procedures managed by an experienced team. Accredited programs are aligned with the Turkish Qualifications Framework (TQF) and the European Qualifications Framework (EQF), thereby gaining international recognition and providing businesses with access to a more qualified workforce. Moreover, the use of the TQF logo on the diplomas of accredited programs becomes possible, granting diplomas international recognition. As a result, vocational school students have increased opportunities for employment.
Mission
MEDEK’s mission is to provide information, external evaluation, and accreditation services aimed at enhancing the quality of associate degree programs. In doing so, it supports the advancement of educational standards.
Vision
MEDEK’s vision is to become an institution that defines the education, research activities, and administrative processes of associate degree programs in accordance with national and international standards, determines the quality of the workforce, and certifies this quality by sharing its results with relevant institutions.
