Updates in Course Information Packages
In the
Department of Marketing and Advertising, various updates have been made to the
OBS Course Information Packages as a result of student surveys conducted in the
2024–2025 academic year and the 2024–2025 Program Advisory Board meeting.
According
to the survey results, it was determined that students had difficulties in
certain topics; therefore, course contents were simplified and revised to
include more practice-oriented components. In the General Business course,
business functions were enriched with case studies to enhance the practical
dimension. In the Current Marketing Techniques course, theoretical content was
reduced, while contemporary campaign analyses and simulation studies were
emphasized. In the Commercial Mathematics course, compound interest
calculations were replaced with basic numerical skills and mixture problems. In
the Sales Techniques course, the topic of “digital sales” was added to adapt to
new-generation sales methods.
Based on
the decisions of the Advisory Board meeting, further emphasis was also placed
on digitalization and artificial intelligence. AI applications were integrated
into the Public Relations course, while digitalization examples were
highlighted in Brand Management. In the Consumer Behavior course, the topic
“The Digital Age and Its Effects on Consumers” was expanded. In Sales
Management, online reporting and data analytics were added, while in
Professional Ethics, new subjects such as social media, data privacy, and
ethics in digital marketing were introduced.
With these updates, the department’s curriculum is planned to be aligned more closely with the needs of today’s business world.
