Students Develop Original Brand and Advertising Campaigns for "Creativity in Advertising" Course

In the "Creativity in Advertising" course, taught by Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Can Tokmak at Balıkesir University’s Balıkesir Vocational School, students presented their original brand projects at the end of the term, showcasing the concepts they developed throughout the semester.

For this project, each student established a hypothetical company and built its corporate identity from scratch. Students defined fundamental brand elements, such as brand name, slogan, mission, vision, target audience, company history, and core values. Furthermore, they developed the visual identity, including logos, color palettes, typography, and corporate design languages. To create a holistic corporate identity, students also designed essential materials, including business cards, letterheads, envelopes, and staff ID badges.

Following the development of their corporate identities, students created advertising applications across various media platforms for their respective brands. They designed an integrated advertising campaign that included newspaper and magazine advertisements, radio scripts and voice-overs, television commercial scenarios, corporate advertisements, social media and digital ad campaigns, banner ads, and outdoor and transit advertising applications.

During the final presentations, students introduced their brands and campaigns in the classroom, sharing their creative ideas and design processes. These presentations provided a practical platform for assessing skills in brand management, copywriting, creative strategy development, and effective presentation techniques.

This project-based approach in the "Creativity in Advertising" course significantly contributed to our students' ability to transform theoretical knowledge into creative projects, experience the operational processes of the advertising industry, and enhance their professional competencies.
