The Marketing Program of Balıkesir University, Balıkesir Vocational School of Higher Education, Department of Marketing and Advertising held its first Advisory Board meeting for the 2025-2026 academic year (on October 8, 2025).

The meeting was attended by Assistant Professor Mehmet Can Tokmak, Head of the Department, Nevin Polat, Vice Head of the Department, Assistant Professor Fulya Güngör, faculty member and Vice Director of Balıkesir Vocational School of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Aybeniz Akdeniz Ar, Chair of the Department of Business Administration at Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, industry representatives Hasan İçöz, Branch Manager at Garanti Bank Balıkesir Anafartalar, Kaan Uludağ, Customer Operations Manager at Kalekim, and student representative Sıla Yılmaz.

During the meeting, improvements made in courses based on the topics and suggestions discussed at the previous board meeting held in April 2025 were evaluated. In addition, information was shared regarding development activities carried out during the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 academic years, adjustments made in response to survey results, and events in which the department participated. In the 2025-2026 academic year, information was shared and feedback was collected regarding activities that can be carried out within the scope of student-centered career counseling, initiatives supporting students’ professional and industry-focused development, and planned student-oriented approaches for effective course processes.

The meeting also included updates on the MEDEK accreditation process, and participants’ views and recommendations were collected. Discussions covered sectoral developments, student-centered practices, and the importance of the human factor in marketing decision-making processes.

Advisory Board members also suggested featuring posts from the students’ perspective on the department’s social media accounts. The meeting concluded with an emphasis on the importance of quality processes and continuous improvement for institutional development.
