Future of Vocational Education Discussed at Balıkesir University
The "Forum on Current Approaches in Vocational Education," held at Balıkesir University, hosted a workshop where themes of entrepreneurship, digital transformation, university-industry collaboration, and sustainability were critically examined. The event, attended by academics, public institutions, non-governmental organizations, and industry representatives, focused on evaluating the current state of vocational education and developing recommendations for its future.
The Marketing and Advertising Department of Balıkesir Vocational School participated in the "Sustainability Working Table," moderated by Department Head Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Can Tokmak and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pelin Palas Karaca. The working group exchanged views on developing vocational education programs in alignment with environmental and social sustainability goals, integrating sustainability-focused competencies into curricula, and designing educational models capable of addressing the transformation needs of the industry.
At the conclusion of the workshop, it was decided that the insights and recommendations generated by the four working tables would be compiled into a report and shared with the relevant institutions and stakeholders. The outcomes of the forum are intended to contribute to enhancing the quality of vocational education and developing educational models that can more effectively meet the demands of the labor market.
