Conference on Climate Change and Sustainable Marketing Concluded
The Department of Marketing and Advertising at Balıkesir University’s Balıkesir Vocational School organized a conference focused on sustainability, climate change communication, and marketing techniques. The event took place on April 29, 2026, featuring an online presentation by Lecturer Dr. Ceyhun Bayraktar, who serves at the Turkish-German University's Corporate Communications Office and formerly worked within the TEMA Foundation's Communications Unit.
The conference explored the general impacts of climate change, global warming, and their natural and social consequences. Key areas of intervention were addressed, including mitigation, adaptation, risk management, climate finance, education, and public awareness. Furthermore, Turkey's approaches to climate change were evaluated through the lenses of economics, data visualization, and stakeholder engagement.
The discussion delved into how climate change influences consumer behavior, brand positioning processes, and the reflection of sustainability policies in marketing communication. Strategies such as "green marketing"—frequently utilized by brands—as well as associated greenwashing concerns and sustainable communication ethics were examined in depth. Additionally, the event showcased examples of communication and marketing practices from the Turkish Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the TEMA Foundation, and various private enterprises.
Following a dynamic Q&A session with students, the conference concluded with a commemorative group photo. We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Ceyhun Bayraktar for his valuable contributions and insights.
