HISTORY
The Marketing program was established in 1981 and included in the World Bank's Industrial Training Program, and our faculty received training in England as part of the YÖK-World Bank's Second Industrial Training Project. Our college continued its education on campus in 1994. Our name, MARKETING, was changed to "DEPARTMENT OF MARKETING AND ADVERTISING" in 2010, following a change made within the scope of the IKMEP program, and our department gained academic departmental status. Our department offers both daytime and evening education. Our Marketing and Advertising Department maintains its distinguished place among vocational schools in our country and trains highly talented individuals within a contemporary educational approach.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES/EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates of the program have a wide range of employment opportunities. Our graduates are equipped with the professional knowledge and skills required by changing market conditions to carry out the necessary planning and implementation to effectively market the goods and services they produce. They can find employment as professionals needed in the marketing and sales practices of businesses across our country.
Through the program's vocational courses, students will not only take intensive marketing courses but also develop their skills in economics, foreign trade, public relations, and advertising. Marketing graduates can find employment opportunities in marketing, sales, banking, insurance, public relations, marketing research, advertising, and customer relations departments in all types of businesses, including the private and public sectors . They can also work as intermediate staff in industries and commercial establishments, including healthcare and construction, and in organizations such as advertising agencies and consulting firms.
DEGREE EARNED
Students who successfully complete the program receive an Associate Degree in Marketing and Advertising.
ACCEPTING AND REGISTRATION CONDITIONS
The Balıkesir University Marketing and Advertising Program accepts students through a centralized exam administered by the Evaluation, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Admission is based on the TYT score and offers a two-year associate degree program.
Qualification Conditions and Rules
In order for a student to graduate from the Marketing and Advertising program, he/she must have a general grade point average (transcript) of at least 2.00 out of 4.00, pass the compulsory courses in the education-training program, be successful in other studies prescribed in the program, complete a total credit load of 120 ECTS , and have been approved for graduation by the relevant board of directors.
EXAMS, ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION
All students must register for classes at the beginning of the semester and attend at least 70% of the classes to be eligible for the final exam. Students will take at least one midterm exam (midterm) and one final exam (final) for each course. All exams are graded out of 100, with the midterm accounting for 40% and the final exam accounting for 60%. A minimum score of 50 on the final exam, with an average of 45, is required. Passing grades are converted to letter grades according to the table. Students who receive a letter grade of AA, BA, BB, CB, or CC in a course are considered successful. DC and DD are conditional passing grades. Courses that receive a letter grade of FF and are considered failed are repeated in the first semester they are offered.
ASSOCIATE DEGREE PROGRAMS THAT CAN BE TRANSFERRED BETWEEN DEPARTMENTS
The procedures and principles to be followed in horizontal transfers between diploma programs within Balıkesir Vocational School or to equivalent diploma programs in other higher education institutions are regulated in the "Balıkesir University Directive on the Principles of Horizontal Transfer within and Between Institutions" ( https://kms.kaysis.gov.tr/Home/Goster/61834 ).
Students wishing to transfer using the central placement base score (Additional Article 1) must have a central placement score (YKS) in the year they enrolled equal to or higher than the base score of the programs they wish to transfer to at our University. Furthermore, they must not have previously availed themselves of this right. Procedures and principles regarding these procedures are outlined on the relevant website.
UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS THAT CAN BE TRANSFERRED VERTICALLY FROM THE DEPARTMENT
After earning their two-year associate's degree, students in the Marketing Program can transfer to four-year undergraduate programs at various universities by taking the Vertical Transfer Exam administered by ÖSYM. This program is suitable for vertical transfer to the Business Administration, Economics, International Trade and Finance, Logistics Management, and International Business undergraduate programs of the Faculties of Economics and Administrative Sciences; the Advertising, Public Relations, and Advertising, Public Relations, and Publicity undergraduate programs of the Faculties of Communication; and the Marketing Education undergraduate programs of the Faculties of Education.
Open Education faculties can also be preferred.
